Jason Hudy's Testimony

Why Magic Matters and What Drives the Passion Behind Illusionation

I still remember the moment my life changed; I was just 12 years old when I saw my very first magic show. Something about it captured my heart instantly. I didn’t know it then, but God was planting a seed that would shape the rest of my life.

Not long after that show, my mom took me to the Noble Library in my hometown of Livonia, Michigan. That day, I met a magician named Ming the Magnificent. After his performance, Ming invited us to check out a magic book from the library and try learning a few tricks ourselves. I did exactly that, and I practiced nonstop.

Nine months later, I was ready for my first performance. My magical debut wasn’t on a big stage or under bright lights, it was at my grandma’s senior citizen center. But everyone has to start somewhere, and looking back now, that humble beginning means everything to me.

From there, the doors slowly began to open. I performed anywhere that would have me from kids’ birthday parties, daycare centers, Cub Scout meetings, anywhere and everywhere. As I grew, the show grew with me. The magic became bigger, the audiences larger, and the venues more exciting. I found myself performing in schools, theme parks, colleges, and places I never imagined I’d go. I didn’t know where the journey would lead, but I knew I was grateful to be on it.

Today, I can honestly say I am incredibly blessed. I’ve performed more than 10,000 shows around the world. I had the opportunity to headline a resident show called “The Magic of Saipan,” where I lived for two years and performed nearly 1,000 shows. I’ve stood on stages in Macau, Hong Kong, and China, traveled aboard cruise ships, appeared on national television, and even shared my story through a TED Talk.

Each of those moments has been a gift, but they also came with long seasons of travel, sacrifice, and exhaustion. And now, for the first time, I have something truly special, a place to call home.

Here in the Smoky Mountains, at the Array Theater, I finally get to put down roots. I get to share my passion, my story, and my gifts in a place that means something deeply personal to me, a place I grew up visiting and loving. After a lifetime of movement, this season feels like purpose, peace, and gratitude coming together. I’m thankful for where I’ve been, excited for what’s ahead, and deeply grateful for the journey that has been written.

“I’m so excited to be performing Illusionation The Magic of Jason Hudy at the Array Theater in Pigeon Forge! The show is filled with the most amazing magic I’ve created in my life, it’s like a Vegas-Style, family-friendly magic show right here in the Smokies!” – Jason Hudy
